People Call them open letters, don't they?

Dear Rishi – Although we’re forever grateful for this support over the last 12 months, it’s time to start supporting employers, not just employees.

So far, almost everything has been focused on survival and preservation;  Reducing job losses as much as possible until the end is in sight, while grants have been used to pay landlords and fixed costs.

The bounce back loan was a lifeline for survival. It didn’t allow us to thrive, it just kept me from defaulting on my debts and allowed me to continue trading. The pandemic hit me at a major investment point which was about to pay back!

Now they are bringing back payments on the VAT deferral, just as we need cash to spend.

We now need a grant to help us bounce back to pre-pandemic levels, to make up the gap that has left us to fill, and as a springboard to generate the tax revenue that we need as badly as we do.

I feel that if the government wants businesses to get off the sheer survival footing, they have to assure us that we can expand and not be bitten once again.

Only once we know that shutters won’t come down again can business truly begin to thrive, we need surety.
